Premier Flooring Solutions and The Forest Stewardship Council

As you know, Premier Flooring Solutions is devoted to the environment and maintaining a sustainable and environmentally friendly hardwood flooring industry.  You may have seen many of our products labeled as Forest Stewardship Council certified, but what does that mean?  Here is simple guide to help introduce you to this extraordinary organization that encourages socially responsible forest practices and management.

What is the Forest Stewardship Council?

The Forest Stewardship Council is an international, non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage responsible forest management and practices. The Forest Stewardship Council was founded in 1993 by a collective of environmentalists, forests, loggers and sociologists all in solidarity with a goal to address global deforestation and to encourage sustainable forestry throughout the entire world.  Since then, the Forest Stewardship Council has established internationally-recognized standards that address a plethora of environmental, social and economic platforms and that have become the basis of responsible forestry.

What does it mean to be Forest Stewardship Council Certified?

Because the Forest Stewardship Council is an independent organization, they instead accredit third-party organizations who, in turn, are allowed to certify FSC products.  Products that are Forest Stewardship Council certified can actually be traced back to their origin, allowing consumers the peace of mind in knowing that their products come from well-managed forests.  Another type of certification offered by Forest Stewardship Council is called the chain-of-custody (COC) certification, which guarantees that every company or person involved in the production process of a product, from the forest all the way through to the end user, adheres to the ethics and standards of the FSC.  If one person or company breaks the chain, the product and everyone else involved consequently loses their certification as well.

Premier Flooring Solutions is proud to offer hardwood flooring such as Nature’s Beauty and the Woodland Collection, beautiful and high-quality products that are also Forest Stewardship Council Certified and come from verifiable sources.
